Lightning hit a tree and then the current traveled to Michael Hardbaugh (Brandon Geier/WCIV)
PAWLEY'S ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV)-- A man who was hit by lightning during Tuesday storms is out of the hospital and sharing his story.
According to WPDE, Michael Hardbaugh was shaken and in a lot of pain but happy to be alive and ready to get back to work.
"I just thought I was dead, I just thought that was it," he told a reporter.
A report from WPDE says Hardbaugh as spreading pine straw at a landscaping job when lightning hit a tree, and then traveled through his body.
"Next thing I know I was waking up and I was in a tremendous amount of pain and I couldn't move and my whole body was numb, I couldn't feel my legs," Hardbaugh said in the report. "My head hurt really bad and I just started crawling and screaming for help."
Hardbaugh tells WPDE he has trouble walking, and complains of being sore. "I can move my toes and move my feet but its just a lot of pain," he said. "I'm just glad I am alive."
