CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- One of the biggest advocates in the fight against childhood obesity in the Lowcountry, says it's time to move on.

On Friday, reports surfaced that Louis Yuhasz is stepping down as the CEO of the nonprofit organization Louie's Kids.

"It's time to go, time to move on to broader horizons," Yuhasz said. "Eleven years in one job is a good run.. I will always be an advocate."

Through Louie's Kids numerous programs like Run Buddies, Yuhasz has been dedicated to helping kids in the community live healthy and be physically active.

According to the organization's website, 16 percent of America's children are obese and another 17 percent are overweight.

Yuhasz is expected to stay involved with the organization he founded by continuing on as board member.

But he says he does have another mission on the horizon.

"My new passion is food stamp reform, and I hope to push forward with taking the worst foods off the food stamp list," Yuhasz said. "It's just a new way to fight obesity."
