ABC News 4 currently does four blood drives a year with the American Red Cross. The partnership began in 2006.
Blood obtained in the blood drives helps doctors meet the needs of patients in 54 hospitals in the South Carolina region.
ABC News 4 / Red Cross blood drives take place in January, May, July and October. To date, the most successful drive was in July of 2011. During that blood drive 468 pints of blood were collected.
The upcoming blood drive in July is in partnership with the Charleston RiverDogs. For that blood drive on July 26 each donor will receive a ticket for a RiverDogs game. One lucky donor will be asked to throw out the first pitch.
