CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- The Spoleto Festival USA is wrapping up its 36th season in Charleston with music and fireworks.
Among the highlights is Friday evening's concert by the Spoleto Festival Orchestra. The concert is being conducted by Anne Manson, one of only a handful of women orchestra conductors. The orchestra is made up of young musicians from across the country.
The curtain falls on Sunday with the traditional fireworks display following a concert by creole musician Cedric Watson at Middleton Place outside Charleston.
This year's festival opened May 25 and featured 140 shows by performing groups and artists on stages across the coastal city. One of the highlights was the staging of the American premiere of "Kepler," by renowned American composer Philip Glass.
