United raising luggage fees again

Posted: Updated:

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- Despite falling jet fuel prices, United Airlines is once again raising its checked baggage fees for certain flights.

The price for checking a second bag on board a Trans-Atlantic flight will go from $70 to $100.

The change is expected to begin next month, but only applies to the second piece of luggage.

United says the move is needed due to below average earnings for several years.

The policy change is expected to increase revenue by $30 million.
