CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Buccaneers were well-represented in Major League
Baseball on Tuesday evening, with both Tyler Thornburg and Bobby Parnell making
appearances on the mound for their respective teams.
Thornburg made his major league debut for the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller
Park, getting the start vs. the Toronto Blue Jays. Thornburg gave up five earned
runs on seven hits with two strikeouts in 5.1 innings. He was impressive at the
plate as well with a one-out double for his first major league hit. The Brewers
eventually fell to the Blue Jays 10-9.
Parnell threw a scoreless inning in relief in the New York Mets' 5-0 win over
the Baltimore Orioles. He is 1-1 on the season with a 3.45 ERA in 33 appearances
this season. Parnell has given up 14 runs (11 earned) on 32 hits with eight
walks and 29 strikeouts in 28.2 innings.
