CCSD approves budget and pay raises for teachers - WCIV-TV | ABC News 4 - Charleston News, Sports, Weather

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- It was a win for Charleston County teachers and for Dr. Nancy McGinley Monday night as the budget was approved for the upcoming school year.

In an 8-1 vote, the approved budget includes a two percent pay raise for teachers and a two-step pay increase for all other CCSD employees.

The total budget is $357 million with $2.9 million set aside to expand the district's literacy academies.

Superintendent Dr. Nancy McGinley had been pushing for the pay increase. The only board member voting against the budget was Elizabeth Kandrac.
