CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Charleston Southern University professor has been appointed to the South Carolina State Board of Nursing.
Dr. Tara Hulsey, dean of the Derry Patterson Wingo School of Nursing at Charleston Southern University, represents the 1st Congressional District. Her term is set to expire in December of 2015.
Hulsey's role, along with others on the board, will be to protect public health, safety and welfare by assuring safe and competent practice of nursing.
In addition to her role as dean of the School of Nursing, Hulsey is chair of the United Nations and Global Health Advisory Council for Sigma Theta Tau International, the honor society for nursing.
She is a Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellow Alumnus (2006-2009) and is a national consultant for the RWJ funded Quality and Safety Education in Nursing initiative, in which the Derry Patterson Wingo School of Nursing was one of 15 pilot schools in the country.
