CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Renovations for downtown Charleston's Gaillard Auditorium are set to begin in about a month.
The Charleston Board of Architectural Review approved the final design earlier this month.
The new features will include a state of the art concert hall, exhibit facility, and condensed City of Charleston offices.
Construction is expected to start in August and will run until December of 2014.
"We expect that we'll have a contract within budget to take to the city council on the 19th of July, and then begin this extraordinary project that will be of huge value to the citizens of the region," Mayor Joe Riley said Wednesday.
