NORTH CHARLESTON, S. C. (WCIV)-- The North Charleston Fire Department will get to show off a Charleston first this 4th of July.

The department will dedicate the city's very first fireboat Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. during the city of North Charleston's 4th of July Festival at Riverfront Park.

The boat will be named in honor of Retired North Charleston Fire Chief W. Frank New(1973-1985).

The 32-foot fireboat boasts four water monitors mounted on the roof that can pump more than 2,000 gallons of water per minute.
