COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina Gov.
Nikki Haley and Commerce Department officials will attend an
international air show in London next week to market the state to Boeing
suppliers.
Commerce Secretary Bobby
Hitt said Thursday the Farnborough International Air Show in London is
the biggest marketing event of the year for his agency and the state's
regional economic development alliances.
Hitt says about 50 meetings
are scheduled with companies that supply aircraft materials. He says
it's important to build relationships with companies that might locate
in South Carolina as Boeing ramps up production in North Charleston.
The first Boeing 787 made there is being sold to Air India.
Hitt says four Commerce
officials are attending the entire week. Haley arrives Sunday with a
staff member and security. They leave Wednesday.
