GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCIV) -- The call came in to the Goose Creek Police Department at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday. The Port City Liquors store on Redbank Road had been robbed.
Witnesses told investigating officers two men entered the front of the store, and one of them informed everyone it was a "stickup."
The two pushed and shoved employees in the store while making their way to the cash registers. According to an incident report, the two suspects grabbed the cash from one register, but they ran after being told a key would be needed to open the second.
Investigators who reviewed video surveillance of the robbery say it appears the two suspects were dropped off at the northwest corner of the store by a small tan or silver in color 4-door vehicle. The vehicle had damage to the rear passenger door and a large dent in the lower half of the door. It is believed the suspects exited the store via the front doors, turned left at some point and met back up with the driver of the car.
Investigators with the North Charleston Police Department also continue to investigate a recent incident at a Port City Liquors store. On April 22, owner Matt Renken was found shot to death in the store on Dorchester Road. No arrests have been made in that case.
Police have not mentioned any possible correlation between the two cases.
