D2L says it's happy with Penn State sanctions

Posted: Updated:

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) – Local organizations are reacting to the Penn State penalties.

Darkness to Light has been following the Penn State sexual abuse case closely from the beginning.

The organization's leaders say they are happy with the sanctions.

"It really sends a strong message, and that message is that protecting perpetrators will not be tolerated," said Cindy McElhinney of Darkness to Light. "So it sends a message, not only to Penn State, but to all organizations that covering up accusations of abuse is not the thing to do, and that safety of children has to be a priority."
