CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - A group of Lowcountry high school students is gathering money and shoes for a local charity that helps injured soldiers overseas.
The school of the arts band is hosting a free benefit concert for Operation Flip Flops.
It is scheduled for August 9th at 7 p.m. at the North Charleston campus theater.
Operation Flip Flops was organized by a Moncks Corner mother several months ago. Her daughter is an Air Force Medic at a combat hospital in Afghanistan.
The shoes will be sent overseas so injured soldiers can be comfortable as they recover.
