CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- An inmate at the Charleston County detention center is accused of threatening the life of a public official.

According to an affidavit, Kashif Quanta Washington waived his Miranda Rights and admitted to writing a threatening letter to Assistant Solicitor Amy Harrell in the Ninth Circuit Solicitor's Office.

The affidavit states Harrell received a letter at her office from Washington on July 30th that stated "I don't like the fact of you being my solicitor. So when I do get out of prison I am going to kill you, your kids, and if you have a husband as well. You also work to the court house on the 4th floor. So not hard at all to find you. All I got to do is wait until you get off from work."

Assistant Solicitor Harrell read that letter in court. She also read a second letter signed by Washington that was sent to Solicitor Scarlett Wilson on July 31st.

"Dear Scarlett Wilson," Harrell read. "This is a letter to advise you that I am going to kill Amy Harrell. I'm going to kill her, her kids, her husband and everybody else that cares about her. I even had in mind to get a couple of gang members to help me with this plan but I changed my mind. I'd rather do it on my own and if I can't find her home address, I will wait for her when she gets off from work. I am so serious about what I am saying. I also had in mind to kill Judge Markley Dennis as well, but I'll stick to my solicitor. She would be more easier to get at. I think every day on a different ways that how I am going to kill Amy Harrell. But at the end of the day, either way it goes, she's going to be killed.

P.S. Scarlett, the only reason I'm writing you this letter is to advise you that you are going to be missing a solicitor."

Washington went through bond court Wednesday on a charge of threatening the life of a public official. Judge Linda Lombard set bond at $500,000 and ordered Washington to have no contact with the victim or any of her family members.
