COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCIV) -- "We Stand With Chick-fil-A." CNN reports that message was posted on the marquee of a Wendy's restaurant in Columbia, South Carolina.
According to the CNN report, Jim Furman owns this Wendy's and 74 others. He says he isn't sure how many of his restaurants in North and South Carolina posted the message... but he knows it was more than just this one. CNN reports the sign was later taken down.
The marquee is believed to be in support of Wednesday's "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day." Mike Huckabee created the campaign on Facebook to show support for the chain and its president, Dan Cathy's, opposition to same-sex marriage.
Here in the Lowcountry, lines of cars and people wrapped around Chick-fil-A restaurants, and in some cases could be seen from blocks away.
The Atlanta-based fast-food chain says the record was broken Wednesday for "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day." Gay rights activists and others plan a national "kiss in" at Chick-fil-A restaurants tomorrow.
