CPD: Arrest made in Mary Murray Dr. sexual assault

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Officials with the Charleston Police Department say a suspect has been arrested in a recent sexual assault that occured in downtown Charleston.

According to a press release issued by the police department on Friday, 47-year-old Nathaniel Wilson of Meeting Street has been charged with criminal sexual conduct third degree.

Officials say Wilson is a registered sex offender.

According to reports, the victim encountered the suspect after she left a King Street bar. The suspect then reportedly guided her to Mary Murray Drive. That's where officials say he put his hand inside her shorts. Officials say the two then walked to the pedestrian bridge over the Crosstown Expressway where the suspect reportedly made the woman fondle him. 

The victim was able to get help from a clerk at a convenience store.
