CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Charleston police are looking for the driver of an 18 wheeler that was involved in a hit and run accident August 3rd.
Police say three people had to be rushed to the hospital after their vehicle bounced off two retaining walls along I-526.
Police also say that afterwards, on I-526 near the River Landing Drive exit around 2:30 that morning, a passenger who had been ejected from the vehicle was run over by a passing 18-wheeler.
A spokesperson with CPD says the tractor trailer, which was traveling east on I-526 toward Mt. Pleasant from Daniel Island, struck the victim in his legs.
Reports say a witness told police that he saw the victim lying in the road and parked his car behind him but then moved it when a friend told him he had to get his car out of the road. The report says two minutes later the victim was struck by the 18 wheeler.
The investigator of this case is looking for information regarding the 18 wheeler since it didn't stop after running over the victim.
Anyone with information can contact Officer Matt Wojslawowicz at (843) 965-4084.
