KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- The world's top golfers are in town for the final major on the professional calendar this year.

If you wanted to see the 14-time Major Champion Tiger Woods in action Monday, you had to get up bright and early.

Woods, ranked number two in the world, got out to the driving range at about 6:20 Monday morning to hit some balls for about 10 minutes. ABC News 4 cameras were the only ones rolling as he warmed up.  He then headed out to the Ocean Course on Kiawah to try out the paspalum grass surface he'll be playing on later this week.

"I've never played on paspalum greens; that was the first time. And they were absolutely perfect when I was there this week. It'll be interesting to see. We got a bunch of rain the night before I got there and they were soft. If this golf course dries out and gets a little springy, it'll probably be how Pete really meant it to be played," said Woods Sunday.

Also practicing on the green early Monday morning was likeable Australian Adam Scott. Scott had that major letdown at the British Open, losing on the final few holes to Ernie Els, but handled it with class.

"Well, it would be awesome, obviously. The game's pretty good, and to get back in the mix it'd be a great feeling for me, coming off a really great week at the Open but to finish it off certainly would feel like I've achieved what I wanted and maybe deserved after the way I played at the Open," said Adam Scott Monday.

A lot of fans will be rooting for him to win his first major this weekend.

Big time golfer Ernie Els was busy signing autographs when we ran into him Monday.

Ernie is looking to make it back to back majors.

Phil Mickelson, who hit the driving range late Monday, has not been playing his best golf of late, but drew the biggest crowd out on the practice range.
