KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- If you're coming out to the Ocean Course for the PGA Championship this week and you're worried about whether or not to bring your cell phone, there's good news this week.

For only the second time ever, the PGA Championship is letting folks bring phones out to the course.

But there's a few things you need to know about it.

There's designated phone zones where course officials want you to take your phone so you don't disrupt any of the action. They are located in different areas around the course, anywhere really away from the main play.

But there's different rules regarding where you can text or do other things that your phone may allow.

The policy is really simple.
• All cell phones can be brought onto sites but they must be set to silent or vibrate.
• Pictures are allowed Monday through Wednesday.
• There's no video allowed at any time.
• Then, Thursday through Sunday there's no photos allowed at all.

And there's another thing included in all this that the PGA is doing to try and enhance the Championship experience.

If you have an iPhone, there's a free app called the PGA Championship app. If you download that, you'll have access to streaming live video once the competition rounds start. Before then, it's got taped interviews from players in the media center as well as some highlight videos from past PGA championships and previews of Kiawah and the Ocean Course.

So the PGA Championship is definitely cell phone friendly this week, as long as you use it the right way, and at the right time.
