KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) – Getting on and off The Ocean Course was made easy on the morning of the first play day for The PGA Championship. But, heading back home drivers found getting out of the parking lot challenging.

"It's pretty bad, traffic itself," said Garrett Edens, a driver who waited 45 minutes just to exit the parking lot. "I don't know what's going on here but, they've got some issues they need to handle."

For about 2 hours, drivers told us traffic was at a standstill. The line wrapped around all three parking lots.

One frustrated driver said quote: "This is horrible. Pretty unorganized and like I said, they're very rude."

None-the-less, some drivers understood that traffic troubles will come along with a nationwide golf tournament.

Officials have alternative routes to help drivers exit the island more quickly. They suggest taking Maybank Highway or River Road.
