CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) – The Teachers' Supply Closet (TSC) is a non-profit organization that provides free school supplies to teachers in the Tri-County area who work at schools where 88 percent of the students are on the free or reduced lunch program.
On Tuesday, TSC Board Chair Yvonne Orr appeared on Lowcountry Live. She noted that it is an important component of a child's learning and to their self esteem to have necessary, basic school supplies. TSC helps teachers help their students.
From 2008-2001 TSC was visited 1,159 times by teachers and estimated that it served more than 23,000 students. It distributed $600,000 in merchandise.
To supply the store, donations of school supplies, new and gently used office and art supplies, excess inventory, slightly damaged merchandise, and trade show products are accepted and everything is made available to teachers for use in the classroom.
