CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team will play opponents from the Big East, SEC and Conference USA as head coach Natasha Adair announced the schedule for the 2012-13 season today.
The Cougars will open the season with the first game in a doubleheader with the men's basketball team on Nov. 9 at 4:00PM at TD Arena.
The next day the team will head north to take on 2012 final four participants, the University of Connecticut Huskies Nov. 11 at 2:00PM
"Our 2012-13 schedule will offer exciting opportunities to check out the new era of women's hoops at the College of Charleston," Adair said. "Our non-conference opponents will be a test of toughness, character and a great way to build our resume against top 20 teams and BCS opponents. I am also excited that we open our season at home in TD Arena in a double header with our men's team."
During the week of Thanksgiving the Cougars will travel to Ohio, the home state of senior Cathryn Hardy as they will battle Miami-Ohio in Oxford on Nov. 23 and then play at Cincinnati Nov. 25.
The Cougars open play in the Southern Conference with a road trip to Elon (Dec. 1) and UNCG (Dec. 3). The team will then have a two and a half week break before traveling to Nashville, Tenn., to take on Vanderbilt on Dec. 22.
The Cougars SoCon home opener will be Jan. 5 as they host Georgia Southern at 2:00PM. CofC will host kids from across the Charleston area Feb. 4 for Education Day in an 11:30AM game against UNCG.
The Cougars will close out the regular season on the road at Furman on Mar. 4. This year's SoCon tournament will be held Mar. 8-11 in Asheville, N.C.
