CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) – Charleston summers are often as dry as they are hot. Have you ever wondered how some flowers and plants bear it? In a dozen Charleston parks, Aqua Angels come to their rescue.

Aqua Angels is a volunteer program through the Charleston Parks Conservancy. Volunteers donate at least 10 hours between May and October watering greenery in parks in downtown Charleston, West Ashley and Daniel Island. They choose whatever park they would like and work hours that are convenient for their schedules.

"We need a lot of help to help us water these gardens," Volunteer Coordinator Neves Richards said on Lowcountry Live. "This summer we have 31 Aqua Angels that have signed up so far."

In 2011, Aqua Angels spent 344 hours keeping parks looking good. Contact the Charleston County Park Conservancy at (843) 619-PARK to lend your green thumb. No experience is needed.
