Charleston County School District board member resigns
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - A Charleston County School District board member resigned Monday with two months remaining on her board term.
Jason Sakran with CCSD confirmed the resignation by Toya Hampton Green. According to Green's resignation letter, she will be taking the position of Director of Policy and Legal Services for the South Carolina School Boards Association in Columbia (SCSBA).
"I regret that I will not serve the last two months of this term, but must ensure that our children start their new school on the first day," said Green in her letter to board chair Chris Fraser.
"It has been a true privilege to serve the citizens of Charleston County on the School Board, and I look forward to continuing to assist in a different capacity through my work at the SCSBA," said Green.
Green's term was set to end November 2012. She has been a member of the board since 2006.
