Police arrest 3 suspects in Monday morning homicide

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - Charleston Police officials say three arrests have been made in a homicide on Romney Street Monday morning.

24-year-old Jarvon Dowling of Ladson died from gunshot wounds Monday morning according to officials at the coroner's office. Dowling was shot near 129 Romney Street according to police.

Charleston Police officials say 21-year-old Javon Brown was arrested around 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon for murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. Brown is on probation for strong armed robbery according to police.

According to the CPD, 21-year-old Samuel Smiley was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Task Force Tuesday just after midnight on Honeysuckle Lane for accessory before the fact to murder. CPD says Smiley was already on probation on a weapons charge.

Smiley faced a judge in bond court Tuesday and was given a $100,000 surety bond.

The third suspect arrested is 20-year-old Jane Elaine Freeman, according to police. CPD officials say she is charged with accessory before the fact to armed robbery. Her bond was set at $75,000 Tuesday afternoon.
