JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- Charleston County Sheriff's Office officials say witnesses watched the DNR officer, who is accused of striking a killing a bicyclist, perform CPR before leaving the scene of the accident.
A CCSO police report states the DNR officer Jeffery Thomas hit a bicyclist Friday night around 8:30 p.m. while driving on Riverland Drive.
The police report states that three witnesses watched Thomas get out of his Ford Explorer SUV and attempt what appeared to be CPR on the victim.
The report also reads that Thomas got in his car and drove off before returning to the scene 40 minutes later.
Sheriff's deputies say Thomas was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
