HANAHAN,
S.C. (WCIV) -- A Hanahan woman has turned herself in to authorities and
is facing charges of embezzling $10,000 from the City of Hanahan.
According to the Berkeley County Sheriff's
Office, officials with the city of Hanahan requested an investigation
concerning a possible theft of city funds by Keyonda M. Garry.
BCSO spokesperson Dan Moon says probable
cause was found to arrest and charge Garry with embezzlement of public
funds with a value of $10,000.00 or more.
Moon says Garry voluntarily surrendered on Monday August 20 and was released on $15,000.00 bond.
Hanahan City Administrator Johnny Cribb says Garry is the former human resources director and was hired June
of 2011. Cribb says she was placed on administrative leave Aug 3, 2012 and she resigned August
8, 2012.
Cribb told ABC News 4 they are still investigating and cooperating with
the sheriff's office's investigation.
