DNC to hand out Obama speech tickets in Charlotte

Posted: Updated:

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Tickets are to be distributed for President Barack Obama's acceptance speech on the last night of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte.

The tickets are to go out on Thursday.

For months, people have been going online to register for a chance to attend the event at the 74,000-seat Bank of America Stadium. This week, the Democratic National Convention Committee released an image of the "community credential" - a ticket that shows Obama and Vice President Joe Biden smiling and shaking hands.

Charlotte residents have been promised tickets if they complete a certain number of volunteer hours working with the Obama re-election campaign.

The Democratic convention is being held from Sept. 4-6. For the first two days, Time Warner Cable Arena in downtown Charlotte will be the main venue.
