Citadel board meets to discuss abuse investigation

Posted: Updated:

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- The Citadel Board of Visitors is scheduled to meet and discuss a probe into how the Charleston military school handled a complaint about a former camp counselor now serving a 50-year sentence for molesting boys.

Board members are set to meet on Friday to hire an outside firm to assist Columbia attorney Joe McCulloch in an independent investigation.

The probe centers on how the college handled a 2007 complaint against Louis "Skip" ReVille, who was sentenced in June after pleading guilty to 22 counts of abuse.

According to the complaint, ReVille was a Citadel camp counselor a decade ago when he lured campers into his room and showed pornographic videos. The college did an internal investigation but did not notify the police.
