GM bans candidates from plants

Posted: Updated:

(From ABC News) -- General Motors, in an effort to stay out of the campaign rhetoric, has banned the candidates from its plants until after election day - despite the fact that the U.S. Treasury remains its biggest shareholder.

The Detroit auto giant wants to be viewed as a success story, rather than the arm of any campaign. Democrats, Republicans and Independents all buy vehicles, so the company wants to put all of its energy behind selling its cars and trucks.
