Walterboro man shot in the back

WALTERBORO, S.C. (WCIV) -- Walterboro Public Safety is investigating a shooting that happened around 11 Tuesday morning.

Chief Barry McRoy with Colleton Fire and Rescue says a 21-year-old male was shot in the back around 11am at the 200 block of Bailey Street in Walterboro.

Reports from Walterboro Public Safety identify the victim as Tyrone Jerome Wilson of Walterboro.

Witnesses tell police they saw an unknown suspect ride by the residence and open fire, striking Wilson.

McRoy says Wilson was flown to MUSC and his condition is unknown at this time.
