Posted: Updated:

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- After two days of closures due to a sewer line break, Rifle Range Road in Mount Pleasant re-opened to motorists early Thursday morning. Crews continue to clean the spill that released 500,000 gallons of wastewater.

Mount Pleasant Dispatchers tell ABC News 4 the road was opened up just before 7 a.m.

Mount Pleasant Waterworks officials say Rifle Range Road has reopened two lanes. The turning lane into Long Grove Drive along with Long Grove Drive remain closed. Residents are asked to proceed with caution when traveling near the site as crews continue restoration efforts.

Residents from Seaside Farms to Porcher Bluff Road can resume normal use of the wastewater system; however, Seaside Farms residents and area businesses are asked to still avoid pond water until further notice.

Residents are urged to report any indications of a sewage spill.  If you see any sewage spilling from a manhole please call the Mount Pleasant Waterworks' at 884-9626.

Mount Pleasant Waterworks will continue to provide updated information.
