Severe drought in the Midwest is expected to make the rising price of beef go even higher.

Many livestock producers are selling off their herds which is expected to shrink the long-term supply of meat.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture expects beef and veal prices to rise as much as four and a half percent this year and as much as five percent in 2013. Additionally, pork products could see a price increase of between three and three and a half percent.
