Mom of missing SC boy to present her case in court

Posted: Updated:

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- A South Carolina mother charged in the case of her missing son is slated to present her side of the case.

Attorneys for Zinah Jennings are scheduled Tuesday to begin calling witnesses in her trial on a charge of unlawful neglect toward a child.

Amir Jennings was 18 months old when he was last seen around Thanksgiving, and his mother has refused to tell police where he is but said she left him somewhere safe.

A high school friend testified last week Jennings told her she was stressed by parenting and pondered selling or giving away the boy.

Jennings gave birth to a baby girl last week. She faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
