CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Around 4 a.m. on Tuesday, a deputy sheriff with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office tried to stop a white Volkswagen Jetta on Plowground Road on Johns Island.
Deputies say the driver was believed to be a man involved in an incident earlier in the evening so they say they turned on their blue lights and siren.
According to a spokesperson with the CCSO, the driver refused to stop and led the deputies on a high speed chase, forcing the deputies to use "stop sticks" to blow out the suspect's tires.
Deputies say the driver kept going to Chisolm Road where the car finally came to a stop. The driver, identified as 34-year-old Jason Ray Wilson, fled on foot but was soon captured.
The CCSO has charged Wilson with reckless driving, driving under suspension and failure to stop for a blue light.
