JetBlue to Land in Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- JetBlue is headed to Charleston International Airport. Charleston Aviation Authority Chairman Chip Limehouse has confirmed to ABC News 4 that the discount air carrier will begin service to the Lowcountry on February 28, 2013.

The carrier will offer daily non-stop flights to New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport and Boston's Logan International Airport.

In a news release, JetBlue President and CEO Dave Berger stated, "JetBlue is pleased to introduce a new class of in-flight service to the Charleston community, complete with upscale offerings like assigned, all-leather seating with the most legroom in coach, free live television at every seat back and a free first checked bag. We are pleased to welcome South Carolina into our growing route network, and we believe the addition of the region's only full-size jet service to theNortheast will foster even more loyal fans of JetBlue throughout the state."

Gov. Nikki Haley released the following statement:

"We are so excited to welcome JetBlue to South Carolina - this is huge for our state, and will bring more people to Charleston, the number one tourist destination in the country. It's a great day in South Carolina."
