CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- One man was taken to MUSC after a shooting late Wednesday afternoon in West Ashley.

Police have released few details, but they say the shooting happened near the intersection of East Wantoot Boulevard and Falkirk Drive. The area is off of Playground Road.

Detectives spent hours canvassing the neighborhood, looking for information about a possible suspect.

George Huff says his wife was sitting on their porch when the shooting happened.

"I was actually on my way home from work and my wife called me and told me to be careful because there was a gentleman that got shot in the head right down the street," Huff said.

Huff says his wife saw children run from the area of the shooting screaming.

"One of the younger boys was throwing up and they just looked, they looked spooked."

Huff says he hopes a suspect is caught and justice is served.

"The kids are the ones that are really going to suffer because we're adults. We learn to cope with things like that," Huff said. "Children are innocent. They don't need to see stuff like that. it just bothers me for them."

If you have any information in this case, call Crimestoppers at 554-1111.
