SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Dorchester County couple whose 2-month-old son was fatally mauled by a dog at the family's home earlier this year is facing new charges, officials confirmed Friday.

Chantel and Quintin McGrew each are charged with petit larceny, Summerville Municipal Court officials confirmed. The pair appeared in municipal bond court Aug. 27.

According to a report from the Summerville Police Department, the McGrews took a friend's wedding ring to a local pawn shop and pawned it for $15.

Quintin McGrew also is charged with unlawful neglect of a child after his son was killed in April by a dog the family had been watching. According to court documents, he was asleep at the time of the incident.

Chantel McGrew returned home to find the child dismembered, police have said.
