MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- A father was stabbed to death in Mount Pleasant with a sword, and police say his son is the one responsible.

Officers found Anthony Walker dead at the Fort Moultrie Motel around 1:30 a.m. Monday.

According to police and court documents, the victim's son admitted to cutting his father with the sword while he slept. The 22-year-old appeared in court Monday afternoon.

A municipal court judge read Elias Walker his charges.

"Mr. Walker you've been charged with murder. You've received the charging document?"

"Yes ma'am," answered Walker.

Walker is now in jail, accused of murdering his father.

Elias Walker appeared in bond court in Charleston County, and he offered no explanation for what police say he did.

During the hearing, Walker was asked where he lived.

He replied, "Fort Moultrie Motel."

Court documents say Walker stabbed his father in the chest and neck, and then called 911 while his dad was lying on the floor of their motel room.

In court, Walker said he lived at the motel for just a couple weeks, though a Mount Pleasant police report said he was staying there for a few months.

Monday, neighbors of the father and son at the motel told ABC News 4 the two got along well.

Overnight, shortly after the stabbing, Anthony Walker reportedly made it to MUSC, but he later died at the hospital.

Investigators say it wasn't until later that Elias Walker told officers he was the one that stabbed his father with a sword when he was sleeping. Walker was denied bond and he remains in jail in Charleston County.

Investigators have not said what the motive for the attack might have been.
