MT. PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- JT Waters is only a junior at Palmetto Christian Academy, but he's done plenty already in his career.

He's an all -tate athlete in football, basketball and baseball, a top student and a starter since his freshman year. What he did on Friday night tops his accomplishments.

"I've got a great line this year, they open up big holes. All the backs get to run through. We have a great defense; they get the ball back every other possession. I'm blessed to have these guys to play with" Waters said.

They are lucky to be playing with a guy that puts up the numbers that he puts up; last Friday night in a win over Hilton Head Christian, JT Waters scored 5 touchdowns and ran for 286 yards.

Waters is certainly trusted by his coaches, and the feeling is quite mutual.

"We're fortunate to have JT. Started as a freshman, he's gotten better every year. He's a special kid, unbelievable athlete, he's all state in all three sports. We're fortunate to have him run the offense" says PCA Head Coach Jim Daniel.

"I love Coach Daniel to death, he's like a second Dad to me. His philosophy, we believe in it, work with it every day at practice" says Waters.

Funny he calls Daniel his second Dad, because his real father is the guy calling the plays for him, offensive coordinator Johnny Waters.

"It's neat" says the elder Waters. "When we were at Bishop England, he'd hang out since first grade. Didn't think he'd come with us to PCA, but when we got here he wanted to come, it was difficult at first but he took the criticism as good as anyone."

Waters says his number one goal is playing college football. If he continues to listen to his "two fathers", he's got a good shot of doing just that.

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) – Matthew Pegram is a 6-foot, 10-inch, 235-pound senior and Wando High who committed to playing at Wofford over the weekend.Even though Wofford's head coach's name is being tossed around in Charleston as a possible successor to head coach Doug Wojcik, Pegram's pick to head to Wofford was easier than he though.“I mean, I have a lot of family up there. My great uncle played there. It was a pretty easy decision when it came down to it,” he said.Following in his family...More >>
