RAVENEL, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Charleston County Sheriff's Office, SWAT and narcotics units are investigating a possible meth lab on Drayton Street in Ravenel Wednesday morning.

According to Maj. Jim Brady with the CCSO, they were trying to find Joseph Oscar Chaplain III who was wanted on outstanding arrest warrants for criminal domestic violence and kidnapping from an incident that occurred on Aug. 29, 2012.

Chaplain is charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, officials said.

Also charged in the case is Kenneth Wayne Ott, 44. He is charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a violent felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and possession of a stolen firearm.

Brady says investigators were told that methamphetamine may have been manufactured at the incident location.

The residence was treated as a contaminated scene while the investigation was conducted and crews worked to clear the home.

Around 2 p.m. the scene was cleared and the roadway opened back up.

Chaplain was taken into custody without incident on the warrants and may face additional charges.

According to a report from the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, Chaplain's girlfriend reported that she had been choked and threatened with a knife on separate occasions in late August and early September.

During those attacks, Chaplain "took away any means of calling for help," the report said, and would not let the woman leave.
