Man taken into custody in ABC News 4 parking lot

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- A man working with a grounds crew at ABC News 4 was taken into police custody Wednesday in the television station's parking lot.

Mount Pleasant police officers said they were assisting another agency around 12:30 p.m. It was later learned the other agency was the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office.

Questions about the incident were referred to a spokesman for the sheriff's office. ABC News 4 has been waiting since Wednesday for details from the spokesman.

The man taken into custody was working with Pleasant Places Lawn Care, which employs prison inmates as part of a work release program.

It is not clear whether the man taken into custody is part of a work release program.

A Pleasant Places work release employee, Billy Jack Hanna, walked off the job earlier this month while working in Mount Pleasant.

Hanna was arrested six days after he walked off the job at a strip club in Myrtle Beach.
