Officials: King Street shooting leaves one injured

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Charleston police are investigating an early-morning shooting on King Street that sent one man to the hospital.

Charleston Police Department spokesman Charles Francis says the shooting happened at 949 King St. around 12:35 a.m. Police say 23-year-old Javanti Goodwin was shot in the right thigh on King Street but then ran to 18 Moultrie St.

Goodwin told police he was leaving Shorty's Package Store when he was shot by a black male wearing all black clothing.

Goodwin was transported to MUSC by EMS. Officials say the injury is not life-threatening. Police say they are still gathering information in regards to a suspect.
