SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) -- A 19-year-old woman accused of kidnapping her daughter has been brought back to Summerville to face charges.

According to officials with the Summerville Police Department, Megan Briggs was transported back to Summerville from North Carolina Wednesday night.

Briggs is charged with burglary in the first degree, kidnapping and grand larceny. She was denied bond at Summerville Municipal Court Thursday morning.

An Amber Alert was issued back in July for 2-year-old Haley Renae Briggs. Capt. John Rogers of the Summerville Police Department said Haley was taken by her mother to Haywood County, N.C., about 25 miles west of Asheville. Police say her mother did not have custody of Haley.

A neighbor who spoke to one of our photojournalists says the mother is believed to have a chemical imbalance.
