L to R: Ott and Chaplain (Scott Garrand/WCIV)CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Bond amounts have been set for two men charged in connection with a meth lab found Wednesday in Ravenel.
Bond for Joseph Chaplain III was set at $300,000. Bond for Kenneth Ott was set at $400,000 Thursday.
Kenneth Wayne Ott, 44, is charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a violent felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and possession of a stolen firearm. Ott told the judge he had the gun for self defense, but admitted that because he is a convicted felon that he was wrong to have it.
Chaplain is charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, kidnapping and criminal domestic violence. The judge noted that Chaplain's record was long and he had nothing to say in response.
The men were arrested after Charleston County Sheriff's Office investigators discovered the lab on Drayton Street in Ravenel.
According to reports from the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, both Chaplain and Ott admitted to investigators they were making the drug in an upstairs room at 5803 Drayton St.
The pair used a soda bottle to make the drug, according to the report.
