CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV)—No, it wasn't Black Friday, but it certainly looked like it from the scene outside the Apple store on King Street in downtown Charleston on Thursday.

At 11 p.m., approximately 15 people had already lined up outside the store, hoping to be the first in line to purchase the new iPhone 5. The new Apple phone goes on sale Friday, September 21st and is expected to sell well.

According to Apple, the phone has already been a hit with pre-orders. In fact, it sold out of the two million phones available for pre-order in just 24 hours.

Fearing stores might run out, in the Lowcountry some eager iPhone fans are willing to go as far as sleeping outside the store to make sure they snag the newest smart phone before they're all gone.

At the King Street location, one young man arrived outside the store Thursday with a tent he purchased from Wal-mart the same day. He was the first in line, having arrived at the store at noon.

Store employees have been at the store all night preparing for the big day. In fact, so curious fans can't see all the inner workings, they've covered the store windows with black paper.

The King Street location is only one of two Apple stores in the state. The second location is in Greenville, SC.
