HUGER, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office has arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of 31-year-old Robert Lamar Moultrie of Conway, S.C.
Robert Lamar Moultrie's body was found inside a Chevrolet Suburban on Brick Church Road by Francis Kinloch, 49, of Huger on September 11, 2012 while on the way home from his job at Nucor.
"I seen this car and it was like it ran off the road up into the woods, and I stopped. I figured it was one of my cousins or something," said Kinloch. "I looked inside, and I could see a body. I thought the guy was drunk. He never did move or anything, so I went back to the head of the road and called 9-1-1."
According to an incident report, when deputies arrived on scene, Moultrie was found in a fetal position inside the Chevy Suburban, dead with a gunshot wound to the left side of his chest.
"When an officer opened the passenger door the alarm went off and that's when he said the person had definitely been shot, and he closed the door back," said Kinloch.
One day before the discovery of Moultrie's body, his aunt reported him missing to the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office. According to a missing person's report, Moultrie had not been seen or heard from since he went to his brother's home on Harris Landing Road in Georgetown County.
An investigator says he spoke to the victim's brother and reported that Moultrie came to his house very upset and reportedly stated that, "I can't take this bullsh*t anymore. I'll take care of it myself." It's unclear what the previous statement is in reference to; however, the report states that Moultrie left his brother's house.
The victim's girlfriend reportedly told investigators Moultrie was supposed to attend a party in Williamsburg County.
According to Moultrie's mother, she spoke with someone who told her that her son actually traveled to Huger to attend a party there and eventually left going home through the Francis Marion National Forest. Moultrie's mother did not tell the investigator in the missing person's case who told her that information about her son's whereabouts.
A report shows that the vehicle Moultrie's body was discovered in belonged to his girlfriend.
Joshua Micheal Pruitt, 18, was taken into custody at his home in Huger on Thursday. He is charged with murder and is scheduled to appear before a judge in bond court Friday night.
The other suspect, 22-year-old Patrick Dwayne Kinloch of Huger was captured in Florida on Friday morning with the assistance of the Clay County Sheriff's Office in Florida and the U.S. Marshall's Service. An extradition hearing will be scheduled.
The motive for the shooting is unclear at this time, and it's not known if the shooting happened in the Francis Marion National Forest or at another location.
