21-year-old falls to his death in Downtown Charleston

Posted: Updated:

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - Charleston Police officials say a man fell to his death early Saturday morning in Downtown Charleston.

The Charleston County Coroner says the man is 21-year-old Thomas Scott Cliff of West Ashley.

Police say Cliff was jumping between roofs over a courtyard at 363 King Street when he fell nearly 40 feet onto a brick and concrete floor.

The Coroner says Cliff was transported to MUSC where he died shortly after arriving.

In a police report, witnesses say Cliff was on the roof with several people before he "fell from the roof top onto a second floor brick pillar and continued falling to the concrete sidewalk."

One witness even heard "what sounded like someone jumping around on the roof" from an apartment below.
