CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Firefighters were called to the Francis Marion Hotel in downtown Charleston Tuesday afternoon for a report of a fire.
Emergency crews had blocked off streets at the intersection of King and Calhoun streets.
According to crews on the scene, a small fire was extinguished quickly under the second-floor balcony. A spokesman for the Charleston Fire Department said the area is well known as an area where smokers congregate.
Crews are still investigating the fire, the spokesman said.
